Velký Javor, also known as the "Royal Chair of the Šumava Mountains," is the highest mountain and peak in the entire Šumava Mountains. It is located in the southwestern part of the Czech Republic, close to the border with Germany. This peak reaches a height of 1,456 meters above sea level and offers a wonderful circular view of many peaks of the Bavarian Forest and Šumava and two glacial lakes.
The town of Železná Ruda is located at an altitude of around 750 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the beautiful nature of the Šumava Mountains. Železná Ruda is located on the historic Golden Path, which was an ancient trade route connecting Prague with Bavaria.

The mountain Šumava town of Železná Ruda is located in the Plzeň Region on the Czech-German border. Approximately 1,600 people live here.
