Watch the Grand Canal in Venice (Venezia) and its surroundings with an ONLINE webcam. Thanks to the webcam, you can watch the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto), which is the oldest pedestrian crossing over the Grand Canal connecting Piazza San Marco and the historic Rialto Market. The bridge was built between 1588 and 1591.

The Ponte di Rialto is one of the most important and famous bridges in Venice. Ponte di Rialto is a symbol of the city and is one of the oldest crossings over the Grand Canal. The original wooden bridge was already built in the 12th century, but due to growing trade and tourism, it was replaced by a stone structure in 1588. This stone building is one of the greatest examples of Venetian Renaissance architecture.

Venice (Venezia) is located in the northeast of Italy and is the capital of the Veneto region. The historic city center of Venice is located on the islands of the Venetian Lagoon. The newer parts of the city are located on the mainland. In Venice, there are several kilometers of water canals with around 400 bridges. Houses in Venice mostly stand on oak stilts submerged in the sea.

In the course of each year, the sea level will rise here by up to 90 cm. These days are called "acqua alta" (high water).

Venice was once a maritime and commercial powerhouse and a center of glass-making, to this day Venice maintains great cultural, historical, social and administrative importance. There is a large port and the Marco Polo International Airport. Since 1987, Venice and the entire surrounding lagoon have been a UNESCO monument.

The first most frequent stop in Venice is the Grand Canal, which runs four kilometers in the shape of the letter S through the ancient heart of Venice.
