     The village of Horská Kvilda is located in the center of Šumava in the district of Prachatice. Kvilda is located below the hill Antýgl and with an altitude of 1065 m2 is the second highest village in the Czech Republic. There are about 30 scattered houses on Horská Kvilda.

     The Hamerský stream flows through the village. It is located on a plateau with many moors and wetlands at an altitude of 1,045 - 1,090 m.n.m. Horská Kvilda is one of the highest villages in the Czech Republic and this ensures enough snow throughout the winter.
