The village of Lednice is located in southern Moravia in the district of Břeclav in the Dolnomoravský úval. The wine village of Lednice is located in the middle of the Lednice-Valtice area nature park. The first mention of the village comes from the year 1222. From the middle of 1249 Lednice belonged to the Lichen family until its nationalization in 1945. The Lednice estate therefore belonged to them for almost 700 years.
Tourists visit mainly Lednice Castle, however, the village itself can offer other sights and it is worth stopping here. The center of the village is the Castle Square built in the neo-Gothic style with the town hall and town houses.
The Lednice-Valtice area, also called the Garden of Europe, the largest landscaped landscape in the world, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lednice Castle, which acquired its present appearance during an extensive reconstruction from the middle of the 19th century in a style imitating English Tudor Gothic, is one of the most beautiful complexes in the Czech Republic, together with a large garden. Lednice Castle is one of the most important manifestations of high romanticism in Bohemia, it is now owned by the state and is open to the public on several sightseeing routes.
In the vicinity of the castle there is a French garden with a palm greenhouse, a Masonic garden and a castle park built in the early 19th century, which merges into the open countryside. The park has many rare trees, ponds, several islands and remarkable buildings: the Moorish Minaret from 1798, John's Castle - a pseudo-Gothic imitation of the castle ruins, a Roman aqueduct or Hunting Lodge.
