On the east coast of Rhodes, one of the most beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea, lies the picturesque ancient city of Lindos. Lindos is one of the most famous historical sites in Rhodes and is a harmonious combination of ancient monuments, beautiful beaches and breathtaking views. This picturesque city has a long history that dates back to the Mycenaean period, meaning that it has been inhabited for over 3,000 years.
In the middle of the city you will find narrow stone streets lined with white houses that create a fairytale atmosphere. Local residents carefully guard the tradition of painting the facades of houses white with blue windows and doors. This combination of colors is a symbol of Greece and adds a special charm to the town.
One of the most prominent landmarks of Lindos is the Acropolis, which towers over the city. The Acropolis is an ancient fortress dedicated to the goddess Athena Lindia, testifying to the rich history of the site. To reach the top, you have to climb some steep stairs, but you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the whole area. The highlight is also the temple, which was built in the 4th century BC and is still considered an architectural gem.
Visitors to Lindos can also enjoy the beautiful beaches that wash its shores. One of the most famous is the beach of St. Paul's Bay, which is surrounded by rocks and resembles a picturesque lagoon.
