The Canary Islands are an autonomous community of Spain. It is an archipelago of seven main islands and several other smaller islets of volcanic origin in the North Atlantic. The Canary Islands lie about 100 km west of the coast of Morocco and the Western Sahara. It is one of the most famous vacation spots. The Canary Islands have an exceptionally mild and pleasant climate. It lies far enough south to be warm for swimming and not far enough to have high tropical temperatures. The sea water temperature around the Canary Islands is around 19 °C in winter and around 23 °C in summer. For swimming, it is ideal for tourists from approximately May to November.

The most famous islands include Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma and Gran Canaria, each of which has something unique. You will enjoy the most sunshine and warmth in the southern parts of the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

Tenerife - It is the largest of the Canary Islands, it is home to the third largest volcano in the world (Mount Tiede), offers many natural beauties, lots of accommodation options and beautiful beaches. The capital city of Santa Cruz is proud not only of its architectural monuments, but mainly of the carnival that takes place in February. On the island we can also find the pyramids in Guíamar, which were built by the original Guanches.

Fuerteventura is the longest and warmest of the Canary Islands, it offers the most beautiful beaches, and so this island is also a very popular place for a year-round vacation. One of the few local monuments is the church in the town of Pájara with a portal decorated with Aztec motifs. There are 13 protected nature reserves on this island.

The most popular and at the same time the liveliest of the Canary Islands is Gran Canaria, which offers nightlife and a magical atmosphere. The capital city of Las Palmas is also the largest center of the entire Canary Islands. The natural formation Roque nublo, "cloud rock", is one of the symbols of the island and measures 1813 meters above sea level.

Lanzarote - Visiting the Parue Nacional de Timanfaya National Park on this island will certainly not make you stupid. Many endemic species living only in these parts can be seen here.

La Palma - Its capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma, is also associated with the name of Christopher Columbus, who stopped here during his discovery expeditions. Tourists can visit the maritime museum here.

The Canary Islands are an excellent choice for a holiday. At almost any time of the year, you can find here a combination of sea, sun, hiking and walking around monuments and cities with a flavor of Spanish charm.
